I Am Collage Blooms

These blooms were inspired by Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle. I was thinking rhyme, but I wanted a few words. I AM seemed like a confident wacky way to say be yourself, have fun and just paint what you’re going to paint.

The blue letters and pink and purple blooms create the vibes I want to convey. I was going places with this design but didn’t know what to do. I laid out collage paper, let Truffula trees inspire me and cut and arranged according to my eyes. I like it!

I almost forgot today’s post

I have been posting daily for a few years now and the idea popped in my head once or twice to write f onto day but left. I’ve been painting as always, well it’s been more collage. My portfolio is colorful and an invitation to play. Your words are joyful happiness and encouragement to create. AND I too am a fan of your work. It’s all so wonderful, how we each have our ideas.

I’ll enjoy the rest of my lunch and write on green, as right here and now the birds and warmth of the sun are helping me take in all of the trees

Have a little faith

Now these are the blooms I want more of. Two funny truths were on my mind. Have a little faith are the words for this post. Yet I’m writing the words above the artwork so I can digitally copy and paste the words. I didn’t want to mess up my blue blooms. Ha. The other truth was given to me as I was working. It was a Jay Shetty’s podcast episode on breathing. When I’m out for a walk I stop and breathe with the trees, sun and birds. It’s a freeness like no other. As I finished up today’s projects, I sat in peace. My breath was calm, and the words have a little faith popped in my head.

How do you Bloom?

There are so many different ways. I don’t have a favorite. I like the color. It’s a thrill to see what I can come up with. I want to paint what I feel when I see the blooms in my neighborhood. I have a collection on pinterest. I must paint the yellow, pink and orange roses I saw on instagram.

A little lunch time doodle sounds like a great idea!

A Free Creative Spirit

These are a few of my favorite sketches. I seem to be doing this a lot these days but sharing keeps me creating.

My lettering isn’t centered. Some wouldn’t even call it lettering. Together we bloom was painted on copy paper. The collage flower was painted with old paint. I painted the tree with a Crayola flat brush. Nothing on Crayola, Crayola makes good art supplies. Some might say Crayola is for kids.

Artists like to build up a tool box. I watch videos and see expensive brushes and premium paints. The truth is who cares. Ok I am a collector of color but what produces good work is a free spirit. It’s the freeness that comes form a state of being. You go fron idea to idea. There’s no mistake or mess. There is but you just fix it and move on. You keep working and enjoy the process.

Sweet or sour? It’s your choice. This painting was a distater. Who knows what the green was before. I painted over it and covered the mess with the letters. Oh that’s why I added the lightbulb. The color is brillant and what an idea. The texture is amazing. I guess today I just wanted to write these words.

Who cares what people are doing. Who cares what people think. Live for you. Create from your awesomeness. That shines much brighter than the perfect hue.

Here’s to more work. Oh my goodness the editing for the color book is amazing! I’ll tell you about that in a few days.

Blooming in pink hand prints

Last night I was thinking back to when I started painting flowers. It all started with Learning by Heart: Teachings to Free the Creative Spirit. This book has changed the wait I paint. I still hold onto the photo or an artist who says I must capture the shadow. That’s what probably happened to the blooms underneath the ceramic plate. Ha. In other words, that’s never a good place to be. The whole point of learning is that it opens the door to anythng is possible. You can stamp paint with a clenched hand.

Hand painting was part of the 100 ways to paint flowers. All of these blooms led to Creative Bloom. By now I’ve probaby painted over 500 blooms. My color palette has improved. My portfolio is growing, which means good work. The idea behind Creative Bloom and all of the flowers I paint is about freeing the creative spirit. Your creative spirit is what helps your mind and mindfulness is everything. Creative spirit helps you imagine, overcome obstacles, and just live, live as you were born to be.

How do you free that creative spirit like a Stallion riding in the wind? You paint with your hands.

Hope you enjoy my thoughts on creativity, occasional poetry and my soon to be color book.

About a Valentine’s Heart leaf tree

This is more of a note to self but I suppose there are others in this world who need these words too.

Left over Valentine’s hearts?

It was an idea from the start!

Teacher said green, blue, yellow or brown

The students painted with black, purple scribbles and lines

Would the tree turn out fine?

What would other teachers say?

But the children, not once did I hear is this is ok?

There were moments of look at my work.

Friendships were mended.

Quiet voices transcended.

It was like a spanish word and its accent

How does one make a masterpiece?

Tune out the noise.

Place with posie

Serves me right, well

For the chilren, I mean artists, are the swellest of the swell.

They know that a Valentine is a leaf with heart.

use what you have

Have you ever painted with markers?

Watercolor with your fingers?

I can and I did!

The smiles on every kid.

No brushes.

No tempera paint.

Who cares!

Dip your fingers.

Make a mess and linger

Scribble on a leaf and stamp!

Mixing color, blending, you’re an artist, a champ

That’s jut what an artist does. Go for a walk. Find some fallen leaves and paint with them!
