Just Create Already

Why this picture came out ok , it happens. I like the idea, an scanning it will be beautiful. Working on this reminded me of treasure maps and scrolls. Spell Books. Manuscripts, the ones printed with blocks. Classic books. There’s something about generation after generation holding the book long after it’s been written. I like the the treasure map and scroll paper.

Wrote a zine once. I should upgrade this one with more attidude.

I was right. I don’t need a zine class or an artist to inspire me. I am the artist. Glue the pages to create an accordion fold. Yes! Collage? Paint? Pens? Watercolor? All the above. I want to print this zine. During a podcast, a listener commented on finishing a zine.

My font. Yes my awesome font is ready. Took a lot longer than expected. Now all I need is to work on the words and digitize all the illustrations. That’s a lot. My deadline is July 1st. I want to start creative exploration and the flower book.

First book layout is done!

It’s been crazy, my eyes are tired but I think I’m done with the lettering.

I finished the layout earlier and somehow it didn’t save. I kept making all these mistakes. I needed to change the book size because the images didn’t look right. Back and forth and back and forth and now I’m done. Now it’s time to relax and refresh my eyes for the next phase of editing.

Creative Brainstorm

I just want to have fun with this book. I’m still working on my summer plan. All the details are almost in place.

I sat and doodled away at some lines, patterns, and textures. Ok at first I referenced some Instagram faves. Then I just kept creating.

It’s like writing. It’s always good to just write and write even if it’s garbage. Eventually you’ll arrive at an awesome idea.

I’m coming up with ideas for my letters and gathering my thoughts.

Paint a pink tree with a Qtip

I have been thinking about the wise trees book and holding it in my hand. I painted and messed up, started again and repeated the process until I decided to just paint. That has allowed me to paint amazing trees.

Yes this page makes so much sense.

There you are walking along and all of a sudden there it is, a pink tree…

 

Notes:

  • mix-up color using tempera, acrylic and just mix the perfect pink
  • maybe use a little watercolor paint with water and mix that with the paint above so the paint isn’t as thick.
  • then test out the paint color
  • mix a little of the pink with the brown to create an awesome brown tone for the tree trunk (I did mix up an awesome pink.)
  • then use the Qtip and paint
  • just have fun and add the flowers

 

I am having so much fun and Earth day seems like a great time to release my book. Sounds Good,
