More sketches

Markers worked for a few of the details but not for the hotel. I do have acrylic paint. That works. I keep going. I’m all for painting texture pages but now there’s scrapbook patterns.

Writing a book is harder than working on one piece. I’ m working on a million pieces at once.

I’m going to take my time and understand:

  • girl there’s going to be 100’s of illustrations
  • my drawing will improve
  • I need to step up my watercolor game too.
  • let’s face it you need opaque color.
  • transparency is terrible for scanning
  • I need to work on cleaning up my flies better

Ok for now I should spend the evening reading and sketching with a pencil.

Keep Going

Does any artist ever really work on one project at a time? I doubt it. Road trip is a lot of fun. Today I painted a camera and shoes. The shoes need to be redone. Tomorrow I’ll use markers and colored pencils to add in the details. I keep visualizing these textures and page layouts. I opened up an Etsy shop. I painted flowers using simple brush stroke techniques.

The big lesson for today is that when you work on projects you realize how much your skills change. This happens when you let go of perfection. Not all of my flowers worked out but it was great to keep going in spite of the mistakes. Sometimes it helps to say, ” I don’t have all the answers but I can act like I do.” Working on these side projects has really become part of my process.

Color tells such a story

Today I had to test out this new tube of acrylic paint. Oh the pinks, yellows and oranges I could create-perfect for the around the world little project I had in mind. Who new mixing up a little red with this pink would create such a beautiful peach. Mixing color is a great way to learn about the element of color.

Around the world is another fun project. I need a few in between projects while publishing books. Learning about art has enhanced my appreciation for culture around the world. The colors excite me so. I love color!

Right now there’s sketching for Road Trip to be done. Then it’s Ellie. Yup, I need to repaint the book and the cute characters too. Wait, I need to work on the collage art too. I’ll put that on hold.

Tonight I need to get the paperwork started for the Live Your Story paperback. And finish the sketches for Road Trip. The illustration method will come to me.

Take 3 of the Blue Lightbulb

The Idea and Dreams are clear. Don’t be fooled.

Yup. This bulb and all its beauty makes beautiful sense.

Not sure what happened yesterday but today was good! All I need are a few finishing touches to illuminate the bulb. I see a few areas that need more blending.

Creating a wash with acrylic paint, what a brilliant idea.

Exploration projects are going great and I’ll post all of them on Friday.

Tomorrow I’ll paint…what shall I paint? The heart shaped leaf? Oh wait, I went to the beach and spotted a dessert rose. Maybe?
