I keep thinking about how an artist describes her work as little pops of happy. Creating makes me happy and satisfies my curiosity. I hope that spills onto my canvas like a good song you always want to dance or sing to, especially when you need it the most. Now that I have made notes I can paint more of these flowers. Lots more! Art is all about making and learning as you go.
Today is the last day to get my ebooks for free. I just released Different Is Beautiful. That book was my childhoold curiosoity.
I’m going to be painting more flowers. I am developing my color palette. Adding new work to my shops. I have been working on surface design patterns. I have a couple of fun reader ideas….I should stop telling you and continue to share.
As a kid I was always curious about animals. I still am. Do they understand me? Is a Cobra really shy? Snakes terrify me. Are snakes terrified of me too? Butterflies flutter where they choose. I walk in thought and suddenly a a flutter of yellow changes it all or invites me to play. Birds flock together. Female Elephants run the heard. Smart herd, hah. I would look at fish and wonder about their patterns and color. Their water is my breath of fresh air. I could go on. Bees are tiny. Yet the role they play in this world is profound.
This project gave me the chance to explore Eric Carl’s work. I had this idea for a least a year. I spent a month in an RSP classroom and taught the kids my art. It is better said that I merely supplied the tools. Students always teach me. It was that experience that made me promise to write a book. Oh wait that was a different book on the ideas about art. Can art save the world? The ideas and how it makes you feel? It creates flow. Yes I just read about this in the morning.! Flow is what I have been experiencing during making art. Back to the class, friendships were mended. Confidence grew. Ideas and imagination were alive and well! That was the best assignment I had. I want more of that. I welcome it. From then on I fell in love with collage and finally brought a childhood idea to life.
Get your ebook for free this week only. Perhaps you have read the book? I will be working on the paperback tomorrow. I know it would be a dream to turn the pages and look at each animal. Every purchase helps keep my creative dreams alive.
You can get all of these plus Road Trip and Wise Trees for free from June 1-5. I have enjoyed working on these fun readers. It will be good to go through the artwork and thoughts behind each book. I want to relese Different Is Beautiful in paperback soon. These are my plans for this week. I have flowers I want to paint.
If you can please leave a review. Every review and purchase helps me build a creative career doing what I love.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I always loved decorating a shoe box as my mailbox. Then I’d look at all my cards as soon as I got home from school. Fun times. I took the heart pattern idea from the book cover and painted cards.
Painting hearts is relaxing. Painting hearts is an easy way to create a hand painted card. Oh by the way, my ebook is available for free until February 18th. The paperback should be available today if not by Saturday. The paperback is available for a specal price of 7.99. Here’s a link to my author page on Amazon.
Thank yu so much for reading. The tribe keeps on growing and it means the world to me that I can share my art with you. Have a good day!
This weekend I tried my new Sennilier 24 color pan set. I’m happy. Not bad for a student set. The colors are smooth and easy to work with. There are a few colors that aren’t as warm or vibrant as I’d like them to be. I can fix these with a little India ink or mixing. The first three rows are pan swatches. The fourth row is premium paint swatches. There are a few differences. This is a good set to practice mixing various tones and for painting earth/nature tones. The blues and greens are beautiful. Some of the browns are too. My E-book will be available for free until Friday Oct. 11th. The Fall workshop will begin Friday. Every Monday and Friday I will post a fun project idea.
Today I sat for three hours. I didn’t think about how terrible my writing was or any of the perfect lettering I adore. Well, just a tiny bit. I didn’t question my lettering. I did so only at moments when I knew I could do better. I did. I just drew and wrote and wrote and drew.
Then I went back to all of my designs and the writng and ideas are good. A voice said, ” Your work looks good. Don’t every aplogize for your art again.” I’m learning so much too. Instead of using a whole sheet of paper I can fold one sheet in half and staple an actual book. I’m proud of my work. I believe in the content. Everything is great but… BUT I probably won’t make the Friday September 6th deadline. In all fairness, my original goal is by the end of summer.
Aside form this it’s my Birthday! I want to give you the gift. All three of my ebooks will be free from today September 6th till the 9th. Click on this link and enjoy. Please reveiw my books on Amazon. If you like any of the illustrations let me know. I can add them as prints in my limited printable art etsy shop. Please be sure to subscribe to this blog so you can get Road Trip for free too.
You are my tribe. I aprreciate you. Thank you for reading. Let’s conquer.
After three hours of writing and drawing I needed a break. I do love to paint. I’m wokring on a few quotes. For this project all you need is something to stamp with and some acrylic paint. I used size 10 paint brush. Oh and a pen to write your quote. You could use paint. I atually worked on another textture one with a make-up brush but this print needed finishing.
I’m going to change the lettering and add this to my society 6 shop.
