About Creativity

In a conversation today, I was reminded of a powerful example for creativity. Come to think of it I’ve been thinking about the Lee school students and our awesome collage art. Yes, in both examples students had ideas. I had ideas. We turned those awesome ideas into beautiful art.

“I don’t know why I created. I just did” These words remain with me. The best work happens like this. The older you get the harder it is to shut off that voice in your head that tells you, your not enough. I struggle with this all the time. I think this may be the reason for not succeeding like I want. Wait a minute…

In the beginning of my collage work I wanted perfection and precision. Toward the end I let loose, referenced a few color schemes and played. I spent lots of time working on this book. I’m proud of my books. All of them.

Will I read my book for Read Across America? I should. Sometimes I can’t shut up about my art. Others times I’m at a loss of words.

About What?

This is exactly what my book is about.

I’m reading Think and Grow Rich. This is a page in the Imagination chapter. I just had to take note of it.

These beauties are turning out swell.

Seriously I am kid in a candy store proud of my work. I think I just wrote the first draft for Love. Simply put, this is my area of expertise. My area makes me smile and laugh. I love to write. I love to take various tools and see what happens. Curiosity is wild.

Did I glue the blue butterfly upside down?

More Birds and Insects

For three hours straight I cut, glued and created insects, birds and a few more fish. I’m about done. I realized that I painted way too many textures. I want to paint more. But there’s only so much space in the book.

So I have a new list going. I need to create some show stopper textures and colors. Got some weird animals. I sketched a Viper Fish, Grasshopper and a Flying Fox. My Butterflies must be beautiful!

I am reading again. I love to read. Tomorrow I’ll create a photoshoot of my favorite blue supplies. Blue is my favorite color. Blue is a common color in my art.
