The first idea didn’t work, paint flowers

I was listening to a great podcast featuring Seth Godin and his latest book The Practice: Shipping Creative Work. It got me thinking yet again about yesterday’s post.

Yesterday I attempted to paint four lanterns. Lovely shades of blue and floral patterns. I didn’t have my usual quiet space but I needed practice. I speed painted the lanterns. They weren’t bad but weren’t good either. I knew I could paint better. I painted a flower.

Yes right on the other side of the folded up paper about to be trashed. I kept painting. Not the same lantern idea but a flower. And it was beautiful. This is the simple stuff I want to do more of.

Blooming with Stamps

Today was a good day for clarity and peace. This was great practice. I just want to paint flowers. Now more than ever make makes sense. Who cares if the idea works. All that matters is that I am motivated to move forward. I may make a mess. Or accidently dip my brush in the wrong color. Almost always I find a surprise. I want to learn how to paint the peace I feel when I am out walking with the breeze, birds and flowers. I want to learn color and think about all the textures I have created. The words. Connect them all. The world is my family.

Husk like Petals

…inspired by one of the beauties in my neighborhood. Not to sure about the brown tones but the petals remind me of how I felt when I saw the flower, patterns in all. To think I simply painted. I love when that happens. All the more reason to keep creating.

Nect time work with peach and pink tones.

Next week I’ll figure it out. Or tomorrow. One more week to wrap up the flower project.

Happy Sunday!

Gave these flowers a makeover.

Painting over acrylic with watercolor is great. The next time you buy a paint brush save the plastic bristles protector. You could use a straw too.

I have some cool bookcover projects coming this week and a new notebook journal. If you like this flower then you will love all of the other flowers I am putting in the book. I’ll be taking a few photos of all of my work to celebrate this project.

Any Way Flowers

I saw@margarts who’s on like day 35 of her 100 day stamping challenge. Any ordinary thing can become even more beautiful. 100 ways to flower with power is all about this idea! There are so many flowers. All of them will be scanned and ready for illustrations. Words have been written. Words still need to be written. Book needs to be ready for spring. Sure there’s Lavendar and a few others yet to be painted. The eraser stamp florals? Yes lets.

Have a good week. If you enjoy these posts then perhaps an art print?
