What Kind of Artist Am I?

I wonder if any of my ancestors were artists? If so, what kind of artists were they? A quick search of my last name reveals that there is indeed an artist, a conquistador, a musician, and a warrior. Yes, my great-grandfather spoke of fighting alongside Pacho Villa. Now that is interesting! Inspirational!

What kind of artist am I?

I paint with the heart of an impressionist. I rather paint the roses as they make me feel. This explains the texture and color of my work. But the emotion of my work is Expressionism. When I piant, what I paint comes from my spirit. Yes I long for spring, the days of long walks under the sun, butterlfies a flutter and me too. The birds singing their song and I capturing every color and every breeze. I’m breathing it all in now. It’s going to be beautiful!

Thank you to all of my new readers! Thank you to all of you who have been part of creatively hue. If you are interested in my work please check out my art prints. The idea pin for the ornament roses is now live on Pinterest.

Viva Pink Ornament Roses

Today’s prompt is what brings me joy?

Lovely rows of flowers painted with an ornament and with tones of pink

Let’s see…nature, family, helping others, the moon and stars, a slice of cake, a cup of tea, and the noodle soup I’m about to have for lunch. Painting roses with an ornament brings me joy. Painting gives me confidence and makes me feel free.

To paint these beautiful roses I held a mini ornament in my hand. I wanted to wrap rubber bands around the ornament but the rubber bands wouldn’t stay on the ornament. And I painted. I mixed up some sweet pinks. I dipped the ornament in paint and I painted. The paint should have been thinner. I didn’t want the texture to be thick in some areas. Yet I can imagine these roses in a pink frame. I think I have the first project that will go into the roses folder. Roses are my new project.

Thank you to all of the new subscribers. I appreciate your readership. I’ll be posting an idea pin tutorial for these roses on Pinterest.

Color Palettes of 2022

Here’s a collection of color palettes that made me happy. Color can infulence your mood.

Various papers painted with vibrant orange and pink tones

Fluorescent pink is amazing! Just a little of it makes my oranges brighter. I now have the pinks I want.

I love yellows and pinks. These shades remind me of spring.

Swatching all of my acrylic paints. I want to do a few color swatches for the fluorescent pink and what was the other color I purchased?

Swatching my new Phoenix watercolors. These are close if not the same as Cotman. This was another artist’s observation.

Green and pink painted towels for collage

This napkin painted with markers and liquid watercolor came out cool.

This orange-yellow is warm and happy. I wonder what will happen when I mix a little fluorescent pink with o yellow.

Sun-kissed pinks!

This is a palette that explains what I hope to continue with my art. There are deep forest greens and warm oranges. I do want my art to be joyful, magical, and playful. The pink is a good example of the pinks I’ve been mixing. It’s a nice pink, but not bright.

Pretty in Fall

Fall flowers in all shades of orange with a little pink

Doesn’t this color palette hug you, making you smile? My warm browns and oranges are pretty. I’m ready for fall. It’s been 100 degrees of humid weather. I’m ready for sweaters, boots and flowers. Ok, so I want pumpkin pie on the list. I can have hot tea again. I love tea, I should build a project for tea lovers. The coffee art prints and t-shirts are cute but I’m a tea drinker.

Back to my pretty in fall flowers. Painting these blooms brought me joy. What colors did I begin with?

Pink is one of my favorite colors to paint with. Pink is the color of frienship. It’s sweet. I don’t like the typical fall colors so I wanted to add a little pink. My yellow ended up looking like mustard. That’s fine. I used the yellow to paint flowers. The yellow helped warm up my orange and pink tones. I did mix in a redish-brown color with the yellow. It was beautiful.

Here’s to a good week! I’m going to go gather my to-do list. Thank you for reading!

Warm Wishes

The yellow ochre flowers are warm. The pink and orange flowers are cheerful. Lunchtime art felt so free. I laid down all of my painted papers and cut and arranged according to my eyes. I need to buy cheap brushes for painting textures. Letting go and painting is good for the spirit.

Have you tried collage? I’d love to see your work. To see finished pieces of my work visit here.

Warm and colorful! So glad I cleaned my palette. These are the colors, so right for my culture page. This pattern reminds me of walking through Bazaar Del Mundo in San Diego. You walk through. In an instant your mood changes, uplifts—different is beautiful. We are part of it!
