Expressive Flowers

Textures of 2022

One of my techniques is texture. I love the surprise of trying a random tool to see what happens. These are the ideas that satisfy my curiosity.

Stamping with a candle lid is one of the best texture ideas I’ve ever had. I don’t want to say best because there are many more textures to come.

The textures that come from stamping with a paper roll are random and beautiful. Oh, this makes me think of the ceramic pitcher at Anthropologie. I’ve got to work more with this kind of texture.

Creating writing paper by stamping with ribbon? What an idea!

Stamping with a facial sponge creates a rough vintage texture. It’s fun to do this and then paint over it.

This was absolutely random. I used a semi-dry flat brush. I love it!

There are many textures that I painted for paper collage purposes.

three orange and pink blooms with emerald green stems

Your dreams no matter the time or circumstance are posible. The color on these blooms are like yes of course your dreams are possible. Now how do I make that happen??? Ha

I was mixing up my version of turquoise green and suddenly I’m expressing a recent conversation.

Hue Beauty

A hue is beautiful on its own but it’s only until you mix it with other colors that true beauty is revealed. You have your primaries. You have your secondaries. Add white or water. You can take 8 shades and turn them into 64 colors.

I am an artist and I like to paint without pencil sketches and referemce photos but my best ideas come from nature, podcasts, music, my experiences and those yet to come. I am grateful for every canvas that made me ask why. I am grateful for the songs that encourage the grandeur between us. I am greatful for the lessons that each season brings.

A few quotes about nature

joy and friendship watercolor blooms to remind you that nature is on your side

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature, and God.” Anne Frank

“Look at the trees, look at the birds, look at the clouds, look at the stars and if you have eyes you will be able to see that the whole existence is joyful. Everything is simply happy. Trees are happy for no reason; they are not going to become prime ministers or presidents and they are not going to become rich and they will never have any bank balance. Look at the flowers — for no reason. It is simply unbelievable how happy flowers are.” Osho

You know what’s in my heart. You have the asnwers.

Creative Bloom

There I was encouraging students to write. Don’t worry about the grammar. Don’t worry if it makes sense. You listened to the podcast now answer the prompt. This is journal writing. It’s practice. The only way to get better at writing is to write.

So, this blog is my journal. These are my blooms. I share process. I share progress. I share projects. I share poetry.

The only right way to paint a flower is to paint one. Not with judgement, not with comparison but with the kid who knows.

Yes, that is what Creatively Hue is about.

Mixing Color

Speaking of using color. There I was mixing inks and watercolor just as I have before. Only this time I’m discovering all these beautiful tones! I’m rethinking this piece again.

Yes I need some pulse and precision practice. That’s what practice is for.

Notes: brighter orange, a darker blue, bigger petals on the flowers. Keep with the idea of being a post card. More of a peach pink instead of the purple. write lindo y querido with thicker strokes.

You’re thinking too much. Paint.

I love my work and I’m having fun with these ideas. I found amazing pinks on Peruvian blankets. I really needed color harmony in my life.
