I have two piles of collage lettering. This one is the ok pile. The pile I came up with on Saturday was the good pile. Really good. So why I am I showing you the ok pile? Let’s just say the you rock is in the trash. We all have this kind of work. The work that is rarely seen in all it’s imperfections. In creating these I had one plan. Create to let the idea find me. Interestingly, I was listening to a talk with the same idea. The artist talked about having two revision piles. The first is the free to fail idea pile. The second is where you observe and make connections. Wait, Corita Kent taught the same idea.
On second thought, this pile is good. The second is the great pile. I couldn’t have arrived at the great with out the freedom to learn, grow and fail.
